August Boxycharm Unboxing

I found out that  Boxycharm now ships to Canada so of course I jumped on it quickly. I signed up around the end of August and I was sent the August Box which was surprising to me as I subscribed really late in the month! Let's unbox this!

August's theme was express yourself! I love how they include what the products are, tips on how to use the included products and the price of the products on the card.

Aloette Time Repair Serum

I have heard of this brand before! My mom is a huge fan of the Aloette skincare line and since this serum is supposed to help with lines and wrinkles, I will most likely pass this product along to her. The Aloette line is really great skincare line!

Amplilash Amplimascara

This is a mascara serum that is supposed to create full and thick lashes. According to the claims this product should be long wearing, flake proof, smudge proof, volumizing, lengthening and curling! This product is made by the same company that makes the Makeup Eraser.

Tatcha Japanese Beauty Papers

These are oil absorbing sheets that won't remove makeup or take moisture away from the skin. These sheets are also fragrance free and powder free. I don't have oily skin so I may have to pass these along.

Dirty Little Secret Velvet Mate Lipstick in Phantom

This matte lipstick is in a beautiful red colour. This lipstick doesn't dry down the fastest but I think it's worth it for the colour payoff. I have heard of this brand before as I got one of their regular lipsticks in an Ipsy. It's nice to see that their products remain consistent.

Ofra Makeup Palette + Six Shadows

I was not expecting this in my box at all but I am so happy that I received it. The palette is like a Z palette, I always think these palettes are always good to have. There are six shadows included - all neutrals which I think is perfect! I will say that I am a bit disappointed with the pigmentation of the lightest shade called Buttercup. Overall, I am impressed with the quality and pigmentation of the rest of the eyeshadows.

I paid almost 35 dollars Canadian for this box (price of the box + shipping + exchange rate) and I 100% believe this box was worth it as it is valued at 132 USD (according to the card that came with the box!) I can't wait to see what is in the September box.

Do you subscribe to Boxycharm? How did you feel about August's box?

Stay beautiful,
Sarah

August Beauty Favorites

The month of August just flew on by! I don't have many products to share with you all this month but the few I have are quickly becoming top products!

Skincare

BVspa Salt Scrub and Sugar Scrub

I always love a good body scrub and these two are incredible! The Salt Scrub is good for deep exfoliation but it is not at all harsh. I also really love the berry scent of this. The Sugar Scrub is a very gentle exfoliator especially because the sugar crystals are so fine. The scent of this scrub is pink grapefruit which is one of my favorite scents! I personally use body scrubs because I have dry skin and these scrubs are amazing at clearing away the dry/dead skin to leave my skin feeling soft and smooth.

Jack Black Supreme Cream

Yes this is a "men's" product but this shave lotion has worked wonders on my legs. This shave lotion has Macadamia Nut oil which really helps to soften the skin. Also, because this shave lotion doesn't foam it makes getting a closer shave easier and you can use less of it!

These are sample sizes
Nude ProGenius Rescue Oil + First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

I'm not entirely sure why my skin has been so dry this summer but this combo came to the rescue. I have raved about the Ultra Repair Cream before because it is hydrating for dry skin and soothing for sensitive skin but sometimes I found it was a little to heavy for my skin. That's why I started adding the Nude ProGenius Rescue Oil in! The Rescue Oil not only lightens up the Ultra Repair Cream but it also helps with skin texture.

Makeup

Everyone on YouTube has been raving about this product. It has al the benefits of a BB Cream but provides amazing medium coverage. I like that this product gives amazing coverage but still feels super light on my skin. The only negative about this product is you have to apply it with your hands or else you won't get the coverage.

I have a lot of red in my skin so I am always trying green product to help counteract the redness. This product is a pretty good price and it is does a great job with redness! It helped with the redness all day which is a major plus.

From the look of the packaging, this product looks like the perfect fall lip colour! However, it is actually a beautiful Mauve pink which looked beautiful for the summer months. Although this lip crayon is matte, it never feels drying and it has incredible staying power. I keep this product in my bag as it is the perfect product to use on the go!

That is all my favourites for this month! What products have you been loving?

Stay Beautiful,
Sarah

Mini Life Update

Wow! Hey everyone! It has been awhile

Just wanted to let everyone know I am alive and that new content will be posted two to three times a week starting today!

This summer I was doing the required internship for the college program I am in and the internship took up a lot of my time. This is the main reason I dropped off the wagon on here.

But I am now back and super excited for new posts I have for you all.

Stay Beautiful,
Sarah

NYX Haul

A new NYX store opened in the Toronto Eaton Centre, so of course I had to go check it out for my self! It was the stores opening weekend so there was a free gift with purchase and the greeters were handing out chocolate bars that contained a coupon for a free product.

Contour Kit

My friend at work raves about this palette so naturally I had to buy it for myself. Let me say, this contour kit is super pigmented but very easy to blend. I think the banana powder will be perfect for the under eye area.

Full Throttle Lipstick in Lethal Kiss

I love hot pink lips especially in the summer. This is a beautiful hot pink and it is super pigmented. When I swatch this lipstick, it did leave a bit of a stain which I personally like in lipsticks.

Pro Lip Palette in The Pinks

I really love the idea of this palette! You can wear the colours alone or mix your own custom colour. However, I find the shades in this palette to be a little sheer.

Lip Lingerie in Baby Doll

This is the most popular lip product in the beauty community right now and I was lucky enough to pick one up. I haven't tried this product yet, but in the swatches for this post, you can see how pigmented it is. I am currently looking for this product in the colour Embellishment.

Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette

I picked this palette up as I thought it would the perfect accompaniment for the Contour Kit and boy was I right! This palette is super pigmented as you can probably tell by the swatches! I am loving the rose colour.

The free gift with purchase was the Lip Colour remover. The product I received with the free coupon was the HD  eye shadow primer. I haven't tried any of these free products yet, so I'll update you all when I do!

What have you purchased recently? Let me know below!

May Ipsy Unboxing

I recently received my May Ipsy bag. For those who do not know, Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service that is completely customized to you. Each month, they send you a themed cosmetic bag filled with  four to five make up items, tools, shampoo, conditioner etc. It is ten dollars American (For Canadians add 4.95 for shipping).

This month's theme was Destination Chic! I really like the bag this month! (it also has a snap closure)

Here is what I received

Crazy Rumour HibisKiss Natural Lip Colour in Coral

Apparently this lip colour is supposed to smell like hibiscus flowers...but it smells terrible. Also, this isn't a coral colour, it is more of a bronze shimmery colour.

NoTS 28Remedy Acne Pore Deep Cleanser

I  haven't heard of this brand before but I am interested in trying it. The bubbles in this cleanser are supposed to help clean out pores and hydrate the skin. It is gentle enough to use everyday.

Smashbox X-rated Mascara

This is a volumizing mascara. From what I know, this mascara recently was released, so that is a plus in my books. According to Smashbox, the formula in this mascara is clump, flake and smudge-proof. I can't wait to put those claims to the test.

Aurora Gel Effect Nail Polish in Old School Pink

I have received this brand in an Ipsy before. This nail polish is supposed to be easy to use and dry quickly, like gel polish but without the UV lamp. I'm t a huge fan of the colour and I like that the polish is vibrant and bright -- perfect for summer! It is so bright, my camera had a hard time picking up the colour.

Pacifica Eye Shadow Trio

I have received Pacifica shadows before in Ipsy. The shadows do not have much pigmentation in one swipe and do need to be built up. I think  the shadows are very beautiful though.

Overall, I am rating this bag 3 and a half stars out of 5. I'm very excited about the nail polish, the mascara and the cleanser. The bag received a half star because of the shadows. They are pretty but do not have much pigmentation.  This bag lost a star because of the gross smelling and off colour of the lip product.

This month's theme is dreamer

See what I received below!

Luxie Beauty Tapered Highlight brush

I love the Luxie brushes! I'm super excited about receiving this highlight brush because I don't already have one. And let's be honest, the blue colour is beautiful!

Probella nail polish in In and Out

I have never heard of this brand before. The colour of this polish is absolutely stunning and the perfect colour for the spring/summer!

Tarte Lipsurgence in Wonder

Swatch of Wonder
I really enjoy the Tarte Lipsurgence. I love the colour payoff that you get with these lip products and I think this red/orange colour is perfect for spring/summer. I also really like the peppermint scent these lip products have. I am excited about this product as I don't have this colour.

Harvey Prince Hair treatment

We all know my hate on for hair products so I won't say much else about it. I will admit that this hair product smells amazing!!

Trust Fund Beauty Highlighter

Swatch of That Glow Tho
This is a super pretty gold highlighter! I love that this highlighter is named That Glow Tho. I've heard of this brand before and I am super excited to try it. I like that this highlighter is in a stick form. I'm also excited that Ipsy included a highlighter with my highlighting brush(major plus in my books).

Overall, I am rating this bag 4 stars out of 5. I'm very excited about the Tarte Lipsurgence, The Trust Fund Highlighter, the tapered highlighting brush and the nail polish. This bag lost a star because of the hair product.

Caryl Baker Visage Lipsticks

I recently received five Caryl Baker Visage Lipsticks and decide to share a short review with you.

Firstly, the lipsticks come in an amazing packaging.. I love the mirror on the lipstick case, it's very handy when applying lipstick on the go.

I really enjoy the pigmentation on the lipsticks, it only takes one swipe to get a great amount of colour payoff. I also enjoy the light vanilla/sweet scent these have!

On to the swatches!

Swatch of Flirt
Swatch of Marilyn
Swatch of Roseberry
Swatch of Supertramp
Swatch of Fawn

If you buy a Caryl Baker lipstick from now until May 8, a dollar will be donated to the Starlight Children's Foundation Canada. So ladies, go buy yourself a lipstick for yourself (and don't forget one for mom for Mother's Day) and support a great cause! To find a Caryl Baker Visage near you, click here.
